Welcome to Park Slope Times

Hi! I’m so excited to welcome you to Park Slope Times, a new weekly newsletter for people who live in and care about Park Slope. I’m Kelley MacDonald, a writer living in Park Slope, and I’m so thrilled to start working on this newsletter. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a few years.

What is Park Slope Times?

Starting in January, I’ll be sending a new email each Friday that features a fun person — think: authors, musicians, business owners, comedians, designers, artists, chefs — as well as Park Slope news and events. I’ll also have recommendations for your weekend and the coming week, from new podcasts to recipes to happy hours. Once a month, I’ll also send a themed email — think: thrifting, dating, hobbies, books, travel — with tips and recs from Park Slope residents.

To kick things off, the first two Friday issues and the January theme issue are free for everyone to enjoy. After that, these newsletters are reserved for paid subscribers. You can stick with a free subscription and get my monthly emails, as well as occasional free newsletters.

There are lots of demands on our resources these days — including many other amazing newsletters — so if you do upgrade to a paid subscription, please know how incredibly grateful I’ll be.

Who is Kelley MacDonald?

Hi! I’m a freelance writer and editor, and my work has appeared on VICE, Apartment Therapy, USA Today, Insider, and elsewhere.

In 2014, I moved to New York City from Vermont with my husband and Boston Terrier. While we originally landed in Manhattan, it only took a few months before we packed up our things and moved to Park Slope. We quickly fell in love with the neighborhood, and now, we can’t imagine living anywhere else.

I’ve often thought a local newsletter would be a fun way for neighbors to connect with one another and learn more about the businesses and events happening in the area. It wasn’t until recently that I felt like I had the capacity to start a project like this. Now that it’s kicked off, I’m so thrilled it’s finally happening!

Thanks so much to anyone who finds their way here.
