Julia Nathan Boehringer on Family, Fausto & Framebridge
The VP of Brand Marketing at Framebridge also shares her favorite Park Slope coffee shop, music class for kids, and a recipe tracker she swears by.
Hi, I’m Kelley MacDonald, and each week, I interview a fun Park Sloper about their life and favorite things to see, eat, and do around the neighborhood. Hi! How are you doing? We’ve had a busy week, and we have family coming to visit next week, so I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend. But first, I’m excited to share my interview with brand marketing expert Julia Nathan Boehringer.
Five years ago, Julia and her husband, Kurt, moved to Park Slope when they were looking for a place to raise a family. “We didn’t have kids when we were looking, but we knew we were hopefully going to have them soon. And Park Slope is made for kids, so that’s really what brought us here,” says Julia. Now, they have a two-year-old son, Sebastian “Bash”, and a 10-month-old daughter Isabella “Bella.”
Along with starting a family, Julia took on a new role as VP of Brand Marketing at Framebridge, after having her daughter last June. “I interviewed for this role with our founder the day before I gave birth.”
In our interview, below, Julia talks about starting her new role after maternity leave (“Was I 100% ready? No.”), working remotely with two young kids, and her favorite neighborhood spots, including her go-to coffee shop, Italian restaurant, and where she buys delicious pizza dough.
Kelley MacDonald: Hi Julia! Thanks so much for chatting today and inviting us into the 5th Ave Framebridge store. It’s a gorgeous space!
Julia Nathan: It’s funny because I tend to treat the store as “my store” [laughs], and I’ll take meetings here when I can, and I’m just always popping in. Whenever we walk by now my son says, “Mommy’s store, mommy’s store!” which brings me a lot of joy.
This gallery wall is incredible!
My family has a picture on the wall! People come in and bring everything from one-of-a-kind artwork to family heirlooms to their kid’s drawings. My son’s name is Sebastian, and I framed his little art that says, “My name is Sebastian B.” It’s something that means nothing to anyone else, but it means everything to me.
I love that. So, how long have you lived in Park Slope?
Five years ago, we moved here from Greenwich Village, but I grew up outside the city in Westchester, and I went to NYU for my undergrad. So, I’ve been in New York for quite some time.
What did you study at NYU?
I studied economics. I thought I was going to be an economist [laughs]. After I graduated, everybody around me with an economics degree was going into finance. They went right; I went left.
